Made for little hands, cherished for life
Our Story
Every child grows up with that one toy they'll never give up or forget. The one that goes everywhere, gets washed a hundred times, loses an eye, and gains a history.
At Patti Oslo, we design with that toy in mind. The one that stays.
Founded in Oslo by Sha Johansen, Patti Oslo creates handcrafted friends that unite Scandinavian simplicity with traditional craftsmanship. Each friend is designed in our studio in Grünerløkka and comes to life, stitch by stitch, by a team of skilled female artisans in Turkey.
We work with carefully selected natural materials, including GOTS-certified organic cotton, natural maple wood, and wool. Materials chosen not only for quality but for how they feel in little hands. Soft, comforting, made to be loved, and gentle on the planet they will grow up in.
Our friends are made to be held, carried, loved, and remembered. The hand-crocheted texture invites children to touch, grasp, and explore, while the timeless design means each piece naturally belongs both in the home and in a child's arms.
We believe that the most meaningful things are not replaced. They are repaired, treasured, and passed on. That's why we create toys with longevity; childhood friends that may one day become memories.
Because the best stories are the ones that stay with us.
No two are exactly alike.
We call them similar, yet unique friends.
Childhood memories
My childhood memories have always stayed with me.
As a child, I enjoyed making bracelets and selling them to neighbours for ice cream money. I grew up in a creative family and was surrounded by handicrafts from an early age. My mother crocheted and knitted, my father worked with wood as a hobby, and creating with our hands felt like a natural part of everyday life.
This curiosity eventually led me to study fine art and photography, first at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University in Istanbul and later at Fachhochschule Bielefeld in Germany.
Years later, after moving to Oslo, the city where my father had previously lived, I designed and crocheted a rabbit and brought it to a local design market in Grünerløkka.
When I was expecting my first child, I started thinking about my childhood playmates and the memories they held.
Patti Oslo was born out of that feeling.
Today, every friend we create is designed in Grünerløkka, brought to life by skilled female artisans in Turkey, and made to last.
Made slowly
As orders increased, it became difficult to keep up with crocheting and packing alone, especially in the third trimester.
After some research, I contacted a craftswoman in Turkey. Together, we started a small workshop where women could learn the craft and earn an income through their work.
The team slowly grew. Some women were already skilled, others wanted to learn. Over time, we found each other.
Today, we work with around thirty skilled female artisans. Each of them brings their own technique and craftsmanship.
Without them, Patti Oslo would not exist.
Each product bears the marks of the hands that created it.
Our friends
Our friends are designed to be part of everyday moments of childhood. Carried from room to room, joining in play and held close during quiet times.
Some become part of stories and small adventures. Others become a source of comfort to hold onto. In time, they naturally find their place in a child's memories.
Our intention is simple: to create things that live quietly in the world and stay with those who cherish them.
Nordic simplicity
Our designs are shaped by the serene Scandinavian simplicity, inspired by the tones and tranquility of Oslo.
We focus on form and materials, creating items that feel natural in both small children's hands and the home.
The simple expression of each friend allows for free and imaginative play. They move naturally between fantasy and everyday life.
We design with longevity in mind. Objects that feel thoughtful, soft, and made to last.
